It has been revealed that the police are considering conditionally allowing Chinese nationals staying in Korea to drive for short-term stays. On the 16th, the National Police Agency stated in a report on the National Assembly's Public Administration and Security Committee during the National Assembly's audit that it is reviewing a plan to "recognize driver's licenses issued by China, but require them to report upon entry, and add conditions to require them to apply for and obtain a separate temporary driving certificate." The police informed China about this plan through diplomatic channels between the two countries last June, but it is reported that China has not yet responded. Originally, China is not a signatory to the international road traffic convention, so Chinese nationals cannot use an international driving permit. For this reason, Korean short-term visitors to China can drive locally, but Chinese short-term visitors to Korea cannot drive in Korea. To improve this situation, Korea and China held a mutual recognition agreement for driver's licenses in January 2019, but it was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic at the time, which ,,, somewhat unsatisfactory from China's perspective!! But I heard that Chinese drivers have very poor driving habits!!!!! and it seems there will be a huge number of accidents!!!!
