To meet university admission requirements or apply for a permanent residency visa, you must have an English proficiency IELTS 6.0 (6.0 in each section). IELTS 6.0 (in each section) means you have scored 6.0 or higher in three out of four subjects, and even if you get only 5.5 in one section, you must retake the test. It's not an easy score to achieve. Also, when entering university, you need to take the Academic IELTS exam,,, which is more difficult than the General type. You have to wait a bit after taking the test and the results, but if you want to retake, you have to wait a long time. Nevertheless, if you get a score of 7.0 (7.0 in each section), you will receive a great 10 points for permanent residency applicants based on the Independent Skilled Immigration points system, and an 8.0 (8.0 in each section) will earn you a significant 20 points. Of course, this is a great opportunity for those with good English skills, For those who can't, it's realistically difficult. You might think studying a bit more would be enough, but that's not the case.

Many people who feel exhausted and feel the limitations of securing scores with IELTS are switching to the PTE test. The PTE is computer-based, and with repeated approaches for each question type (including IELTS), and consistent practice, you can achieve a high score comparable to your IELTS score. Especially, since there is no tension or pressure from the Face-to-Face section of IELTS Speaking, I can't be sure if you get a good score, but it seems that computer-based methods might be better for Koreans. Also, on average, you get higher scores for the Writing section. The test fees are similar, scores can be checked quickly (even on the same day), and especially since you can retake the test in a short time, it helps those preparing for permanent residency manage their time efficiently.

For students, securing your scores before the start of your final semester is psychologically more stable, and if you are staying on a temporary graduate visa or holding a work visa and are considering permanent residency, securing your scores six months before the visa expiration date will help ensure a smooth visa process.
